This year marks our third annual Toronto Scotiabank Race fundraising event for Young Parents. This has been a primary way that we have raised support for our programming, which offers help and hope to pregnant and parenting youth through support groups, mentorship, advocacy and emergency care.

 

As with all things 2020, this annual event has been affected by COVID-19 restrictions and will now be held virtually. Although that’s disappointing from the perspective that we’ve enjoyed completing the race and celebrating in person, we actually think this gives more opportunity to engage those who might not normally be able to join us and participate in a way that suits you.

 

Perhaps you’re looking for an opportunity to combine your own (or your family’s) physical health goals and/or support an organization you believe in. This race opportunity means you can do both! #winwin!

 

We are looking for those who will “Go the Distance for Young Parents” by running or walking and raising funds for Young Parents.

JOIN THE YOUNG PARENTS TEAM AS A WALKER/RUNNER & FUNDRAISER

 

There are many options as far as distance you’d like to run or walk. I (Loreli) will again be running a 5K course.

Location | Where to Run/Walk

 

As there is no race location, you can set your own course. You can track your run/walk through any of the following apps:
These apps will also help you as you will log your time (on the honour system) upon completion of the race.

 

Date & Time | When to Run/Walk

 

We have set the Young Parents Run/Walk fro the morning of Saturday, October 17th. This will be celebrated with a Zoom call together on October 17th at 11 a.m.

 

 

Having said that, you are not restricted to that date and time if it doesn’t work for you. You can complete your official Scotiabank Race anytime between October 1st and 31st.

Be sure to connect to Youth Unlimited as the charity and Young Parents as the team you are joining.

 

Once you’ve registered, please send us a note letting us know. We will add your name to our team and you can begin training and collecting donations right away!

 

You will be given a link to your own giving page where people can donate toward the Young Parents team.

 

We are asking those who sign up to set a fundraising goal of either $200 or $500.

 

Every registered runner/walker will receive a:
  • Souvenir t-shirt
  • Race medal
  • Bib Number
  • Certificate of Completion
  • Feeling of accomplishment!
